Large Lavender Fluorite on Botryoidal Calcite
Qinglong County, Guizhou Province, China
£250
Description
A substantial cabinet specimen with pale lavender to soft lilac Fluorite cubes distributed across a white to cream Calcite matrix. The broad, irregular display face is broken by rounded botryoidal formations, open recesses and a fine crystalline druse, giving the specimen depth and a sparkling surface.
The Fluorite shows a cubic crystal habit, with intergrown cubes of varying sizes perched between and around the Calcite formations. Several crystals display subtle colour zoning, with deeper violet outlines around paler interiors. Translucent areas, vitreous reflections and finely textured growth surfaces give individual cubes a different character as the viewing angle changes.
The contrast between the angular Fluorite crystals and the rounded, botryoidal and microcrystalline Calcite matrix is the principal feature of this piece. From Qinglong County in Guizhou Province, China, it weighs 1,504 g and measures 190 × 120 × 80 mm. The display stand shown is included.
Natural mineral specimen. Minor contacts and edge wear may be present, consistent with extraction and handling. Please examine all five photographs for the condition of the crystal faces, edges and matrix. You will receive the exact specimen photographed.
