Description

An impressive upright crystal tower in clear, cream and warm honey tones, displayed on a curved natural wood stand.

This large 2.330 kg cluster rises vertically from a sweeping, curved wooden display stand. Hundreds of small clear to champagne-coloured crystals cover its upper section, with longer projecting points and larger translucent pale-honey crystals concentrated toward the base. The contrast of fine crystal texture and bold individual forms gives it a different character from every side.

Closer views reveal the dense crystal growth, natural matrix and patches of warm yellow-brown colour. The wood is a separate presentation stand and is included with the specimen. Dimensions and weight refer to the mineral specimen only, as supplied.

Identification and origin: Supplied as Quartz with Barite and Calcite from Hubei Province, China. The photographs are consistent with a mixed crystal association, but individual pale or bladed crystals cannot be identified conclusively from images alone. The mineral names and province are based on supplier information; no more precise mine is confirmed.

The accompanying Calcite contributes a different crystal habit and surface character to the specimen. Its lighter or more translucent areas provide a contrast with the other recorded growth, allowing their separate outlines to be followed. The association is worth appreciating as a whole, with the arrangement and contact between the minerals adding detail beyond the featured crystals alone.

Quartz is silicon dioxide, a mineral whose familiar pointed crystals develop as material is added to growing faces. It occurs in many geological settings, including mineral veins and granite-related deposits. The variety of crystal lengths, orientations and degrees of transparency makes it an especially rewarding mineral to compare: pieces with the same composition can have very different natural architecture.

The glassy lustre of Quartz comes from light reflecting off its surfaces. Clear areas allow a view into the crystal, while internal fractures, veils and inclusions can scatter that light and create softer white regions. These features are distinct from the outer crystal faces. Studying both the interior and the outline adds another layer of interest beyond the familiar pointed shape.

The recorded origin is Hubei Province, China (supplier attribution). Within a collection of Quartz specimens, this locality gives the piece a geographical identity alongside its particular crystal habit and natural setting.

The specimen measures 245 × 120 × 100 mm, with a recorded weight of 2.330 kg. Its scale gives the natural architecture room to be appreciated as a whole, while the finer growth provides detail for closer study.

Condition: Please use all seven original photographs to inspect the exact crystal tips, matrix, coloration and wooden stand. No claim is made that every point is free of natural contact or minor damage.

For display, support the stable base or the supplied mount rather than a projecting crystal. Quartz is relatively hard, but pointed ends and natural contact areas can still be damaged by an impact. Gentle handling helps preserve the arrangement that gives this individual specimen its character.
