Description
Soft pink Rhodochrosite crystal aggregates and sparkling Quartz create a delicate contrast across a darker sulphide-bearing matrix.
This attractive specimen features numerous soft pink Rhodochrosite crystal aggregates distributed across a contrasting matrix. Their finely crystallised surfaces catch the light from several display angles.
Transparent to translucent Quartz crystals add texture and brilliance, while darker sulphide-bearing areas provide strong natural contrast against the delicate pink mineralisation.
The combination of Rhodochrosite, Quartz and metallic sulphides forms a visually distinctive Bulgarian mineral specimen with both collector appeal and geological interest.
The exact specimen is supplied with the bevelled glass display base and protective box shown. An Avalon validation card recording its identification, locality, weight and dimensions is also included.
The finer crystalline growth described here adds another scale of detail to the specimen. Many small faces contribute to the sparkling surface, while the larger outline establishes its overall form. That combination is worth appreciating beyond the main colour: surface texture, spacing and the distribution of growth all help distinguish this individual piece.
The accompanying Quartz brings a silicate crystal habit into the association. Its surfaces and crystal outlines contrast with the featured mineral, giving the specimen more than one kind of growth to examine. The way the minerals occupy the same piece is part of its character: the setting retains their natural relationship and adds depth to the overall display.
Rhodochrosite is manganese carbonate and belongs to the Calcite group. Pink and rose-red tones are familiar, but the species can show a wider range of colours. It occurs in mineral veins and other manganese-bearing environments. Crystallised pieces are interesting for the shape of the growth and its relationship to any accompanying minerals, as well as their colour.
The carbonate habit can produce distinct faces or closely grouped aggregates, with light revealing different textures across the surface. The intensity of the colour is only one element of a specimen’s character. Its silhouette, the distribution of growth and the contrast with recorded associated material provide useful points of comparison within a collection of manganese minerals or natural crystal formations.
The recorded origin is Starnitsa Deposit, Davidkovo Ore Field, Banite, Bulgaria. The locality and mineral associations follow the information supplied with this specimen. Its individual growth and matrix provide the visual details described here.
The specimen measures 66 × 50 × 30 mm, with a recorded weight of 84 g. Its compact presentation makes it suitable for a boxed mineral collection, where the individual crystals and their association can be appreciated at close range.
Condition: Excellent collector specimen.
Support the stable matrix or the supplied mount when moving the specimen, avoiding pressure on projecting growth. A secure indoor display allows its natural form and surface detail to be appreciated while protecting exposed crystal edges.
